As a small consultancy without the same financial resources of larger companies, Edenvale Young are constantly having to innovate and this is one of the benefits of working for a small SME, the very real scope for using and developing your skills creatively.

You will have the support of our multidisciplanary team which includes civil engineers, hydrologists, environmental scientists and hydraulic modellers. Our directors have over 80 years experience between them and have succeeded in building excellent professional relationships with clients and other consultancies.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is an important part of staff development and every team member is encouraged to actively take part in conferences and other training events. By actively engaging and networking with industry specialists and regularly attending events on industry developments, we aim to constantly better our understanding of engineering and hydraulics and use this in our work.

Graduate Civil Engineer – Hydraulic Modeller

Location: Bristol

Edenvale Young Associates is an Environmental and Civil Engineering consultancy specialising in hydrological analysis in its broadest sense. We aim to help our clients to reduce flood risk through innovative engineering, improving the environment and advancing the state of the art within our industry. We are seeking a motivated and Graduate Civil Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work on a variety of projects involving the design, analysis, and hydraulic modelling of fluvial, pluvial and coastal systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience and develop their skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop technical hydraulic modelling, project management and civil engineering skills.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and project teams to develop innovative flood risk management solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in field investigations and data collection as needed.
  • Support project management activities including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Strong academic background in hydraulics or water resources.
  • Awareness of hydraulic modelling software
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop professionally.
